Short-time work and home office
We introduced home office working as a protective measure for our employees, while also implementing shorter working hours to secure jobs.
In April, Casinos Austria launched the campaign #wirtragenmaske (we carry a mask), which was supported by popular Austrian celebrities from the fields of culture and sports. The campaign has called on people in Austria to wear masks in public, and now we are equipping over 5,000 retail locations with protective masks and hand sanitiser. In total, we are providing our distribution partners with 15,000 masks and 10,000 bottles of disinfectant.
Corporate volunteering in the crisis
The Casinos Austria group of companies offers its employees the opportunity to spend up to 5 working days a year volunteering. This offer remains in place and is now mainly directed at projects related to the crisis.
To counter the initial wave of panic buying at the start of the crisis, we set up a food donation service at the head office, following all the appropriate hygiene protocols. The donations will go to Wiener Tafel, an association that saves up to three tons of food per day and provides 18,000 people living in poverty with valuable donations of food and goods.
Call for neighborhood help
On our internal company platform (Microsoft Teams), we have provided our employees with a template for neighborhood help that they can print and post.
Support for aid organizations
Furthermore, we have listed contact details for social institutions on our company platform to allow employees to directly contact them and offer their help. (SDG 17)
Appeal for donations of old electronic equipment
The organization “lobby.16” advocates for unaccompanied young refugees to receive education and training. They support these young people according to their abilities and talents, with the aim of finding their educational and professional path. We as a company collect old electronic gear, like laptops, that are needed for home schooling and make them available to the institution.
w2d-donation for Red Cross
Win2day, the online gaming site of Austrian Lotteries, donated 15,000 euros to the Austrian Red Cross for the Corona spontaneous aid fund on World Red Cross Day (May 8).
Chocolate Easter bunny donation
Over 6,000 chocolate Easter bunnies were given away by Casinos Austria to various social institutions, such as hospitals or SOS Children's Village.
Red Nose Project
The Austrian Lotteries have long been supporters of the Rote Nasen Clowndoctors Austria and have made virtual clown visits to the mother-child house Immanuel of Caritas possible.
Order of protective masks for the employees We ensure that all protective masks and sanitiser ordered for our employees are high quality and certified by OEKO-TEX.
